About

Since being given a camera at 8 years old, I have been passionate about photography and I hope this shows in my work, turning a private passion into a professional career.
I have photographed a wide range of subjects including landscapes, gardens, architecture and the occasional wedding, but my main interest lies in detail and textural images and trying to capture the unusual that can be found in the beauty of our natural surroundings. An early memory I have is of my father teaching me to draw, concentrating on one small detail rather than the whole thing; for example the intricacies of a curlew’s claw. I found that subject so fascinating and absorbing that even now it is hard to initially see the whole, and instead devote my focus on a tiny area, turning an otherwise unnoticed aspect of an object into a work of art.
Past work includes photographing a range of furniture for a manufacturer’s new catalogue, and producing images of food to adorn the walls of a prestigious independent school’s dining hall. The latter gave me a different challenge, which found me spending hours in London’s Borough Market – something I would highly recommend!
Last year I completed a three year project for an architect photographing the build of ‘The Green House’ in Southwark, London – from derelict site to occupied building. A selection of images will be available soon in the Gallery. I am also publishing a book of a selection of my favourite images from this project. Details of which will be posted on here in the near future.
Two years ago I produced a calendar for an English building surveyor who lives and works in France for him to give to his clients both old and new. I am currently working on the 2012 calendar with more images in and around Carcassonne in the Aude region of France. A selection of these images are currently available as greetings cards and prints at 'Les Marguerites', a wonderful hotel in Alet les Bains, France.
I am happy to take commissions, from a single image to features for a magazine. For longer projects a special rate can be negotiated. Please contact me for further details and an initial discussion.
